Self-closing vs expandable braided sleeving
Start with installation access, then specify the material and bundle range. A wrap with a longitudinal opening and a tubular expandable braid solve different fitting problems.

Compare installation, sizes and packaging.
| Selection point | Self-closing PET wrap | Tubular expandable braid |
|---|---|---|
| Installation | Longitudinal opening; fits around a connected bundle | Thread from a cable end; connector clearance matters |
| Material choices | Polyester (PET), black SYN-SC construction | PET, nylon, fibreglass, heat-treated fibreglass and aramid |
| Published nominal sizes | 5, 8, 13, 19, 25, 29, 32, 38 and 50 mm; check bundle range | PET: 3–70 mm; PA66, fibreglass and aramid: 3–76 mm catalogue tables; heat-treated availability confirmed |
| Quantity basis | Standard 200-metre rolls | 500-metre MOQ; packaging follows the selected catalogue reference |
| Grade selection | Confirm required finished-wrap evidence | PET FR/non-FR; nylon 6, 6.6 or 12; fibre and finish as specified |
| Delivery | Request lead time and commercial terms | Standard PET/nylon: 7 days; custom constructions: 1–2 months; other standard delivery by quotation |
Nominal size is a starting point.
Measure the finished bundle where the sleeve will sit. If a connector must pass through a tubular braid, measure that connector too. The nominal size, installed bundle diameter and maximum expansion are different dimensions.
On the self-closing page, use the stated minimum and maximum bundle range for the selected code. For PET tubular braid, the catalogue gives a single expansion value; do not interpret it as a minimum–maximum range. For nylon, the table is a nylon 6.6 (PA66) reference, with PA6 and PA12 confirmed to customer specification.
Material choice also depends on movement, contact surfaces, exposure and any required product approval. A fibre name or raw-yarn certificate does not establish the thermal, electrical or mechanical rating of every finished construction.
Send the details that determine the quote.
- Installation route: around a connected harness or from an accessible cable end.
- Bundle diameter, connector clearance, installed length and required expansion.
- Material, nylon grade or fibre brand, colour, finish and service conditions.
- Quantity in metres or 200-metre self-closing rolls, with the destination city and country.
- Required product documents and the delivery date to be confirmed.
